Event Guidelines

Overview

The following guidelines have been put in place to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and well-managed experience for all attendees at the Mother’s Day Concert 2026.

All visitors are required to comply with these rules, which are aligned with Johannesburg Zoo regulations and applicable City of Johannesburg by-laws. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in refusal of entry or removal from the event.


Entry and Access Requirements

  • A valid ticket (digital or printed) must be presented at entry.
  • All attendees are subject to security screening, including bag checks.
  • No re-entry will be permitted without official accreditation.
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Entry points and access routes must be used as directed by event staff
  • Children entering the kiddies’ play area will be issued with wristbands on which a parent or guardian’s contact number will be recorded for emergency purposes.


Permitted and Prohibited Items

Permitted

  • Picnic blankets and portable chairs
  • Personal food for picnic use
  • Sealed non-alcoholic beverages
  • Sunscreen, hats, and umbrellas


Prohibited

  • Weapons, sharp objects, or hazardous items
  • Drones or unauthorised recording equipment
  • Large sound equipment, such as speakers
  • Fires, gas braais, or open flames
  • Any items deemed unsafe by event management


Parking and Transport
Public parking is available at Upper Park Drive and the Military Museum 

  • Visitors are encouraged to use ride-sharing services such as Uber or Bolt (use Jan Smuts Entrance)
  • Traffic officials and signage must be followed at all times.
  • Parking is at the owner’s risk.


Safety and Security

  • Trained security personnel will be deployed throughout the venue
  • Emergency and medical services will be available on-site.
  • Clearly marked emergency assembly points will be in place.
  • Attendees must comply with all safety instructions from officials


General Event Rules

  • No littering. Use designated waste and recycling bins.
  • Respect all animal enclosures and restricted areas
  • Feeding of the animals is prohibited
  • No climbing on fences, structures, or staging areas
  • Noise levels must remain appropriate for the environment.
  • No unlawful or disruptive behaviour will be tolerated.
  • The organiser reserves the right to remove any individual who violates event rules


Alcohol Policy

  • Alcohol may only be purchased and consumed in designated areas
  • No alcohol may be brought into the venue
  • Proof of age may be required for alcohol purchases
  • Responsible consumption is expected at all times


Environmental Responsibility

  • Dispose of waste responsibly
  • Respect the natural environment
  • Support sustainability initiatives where applicable


Photography and Media

  • Photography and videography will take place during the event
  • By attending, visitors consent to the use of images for promotional purposes
  • Unauthorised commercial filming is not permitted


Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency:

  • Attendees must follow instructions from event officials and security personnel
  • Emergency exits and assembly points must be used as directed
  • Medical assistance will be available on-site
  • Clear communication systems will be in place to guide attendees where necessary.

The event will comply with all relevant regulations, including:

City of Johannesburg by-laws
Public safety and event regulations
Health and safety standards
Environmental management requirements

All operations will be conducted in accordance with approved permits and event plans.
