Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ), the City of Johannesburg's entity responsible for greening, horticultural, and maintenance services, has intensified its service delivery mandate across parks, nature reserves and public green spaces in all seven regions of Joburg.  The start of the new season is ideal for residents to enjoy the green outdoors and connect with nature in clean, attractive, safe, and welcoming spaces.

The seasonal maintenance programme includes essential horticultural activities aimed at enhancing the appearance and functionality of green lungs in the city, while contributing to the upkeep of public open spaces.

With maintenance activities underway across the city, parks and green spaces are ready to welcome residents to enjoy clean, well-maintained outdoor environments. These spaces play an important role in improving the quality of life for communities, promoting physical and mental well-being, supporting biodiversity and providing opportunities for families and individuals to spend time together.

City Parks and Zoo encourages residents to take pride in their public spaces and work together to preserve the cleanliness and condition of these spaces. While the entity continues to fulfil its horticultural maintenance responsibilities, the entity faces the challenge of illegal dumping, litter, and fires at the base of trees.

Residents are urged to dispose of waste in designated bins or take their litter home in refuse bags to dispose of it accordingly.  Park users are also encouraged to act responsibly and report vandalism or activities that threaten the safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of these shared amenities through the appropriate municipal channels.

“City Parks and Zoo remains committed to maintaining and enhancing the city's green infrastructure across the city. By working together, we can ensure that Johannesburg's parks and green spaces remain clean, vibrant and enjoyable throughout the season,” said JCPZ Managing Director Thanduxolo Mendrew.
