Celebrating the Matriarchs this Mother’s Day at the Joburg Zoo

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is pleased to officially announce the 2026 Mother’s Day Concert, taking place on Sunday, 10 May 2026, from 09:00 to 16:00 at the Johannesburg Zoo. This beloved annual celebration returns with an expanded programme and an anticipated attendance of 10,000 patrons, reaffirming its status as one of Johannesburg’s most treasured family events.

Hosted in partnership with Joburg Theatre, the Mother’s Day Concert honours mothers, caregivers, and families with a full day of relaxation, entertainment, and outdoor enjoyment. The 2026 edition will feature live performances by local artists to follow, guided Zoo heritage and Big 5 tours, a lively kiddies play zone, diverse food and craft vendors, and a dedicated hospitality programme for senior citizens from selected regions across Johannesburg.

Mother’s Day is a moment of reflection, gratitude, and celebration. It is a time when we honour the women who nurture families, shape communities, and contribute meaningfully to the cultural and social fabric of our nation.

As a city theatre entity committed to storytelling and shared experiences, Joburg Theatre believes that the arts have a unique ability to bring people together across generations, and this special concert promises to do exactly that.  This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to making the arts accessible beyond traditional theatre spaces.

By partnering in this event at one of Johannesburg’s most cherished public venues, we are extending the magic of live performance into a family-friendly environment where music, nature, and community intersect.

We encourage families across the city to join us for a memorable day of celebration, connection, and world-class entertainment.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful occasion with the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and families of Johannesburg and to continuing our work in placing the City of Johannesburg at the heart of vibrant cultural expression.

The Mother’s Day Concert continues JCPZ’s commitment to promoting conservation, community inclusivity, and accessible family recreation. Guided tours, interactive learning opportunities, and safe, well-managed venues ensure that the experience caters for all ages — from young children to senior citizens.

Tickets are available via Webtickets at R150 for adults, R80 for kids 3-12 years old, and R80 for senior citizens. Patrons can also buy tickets at the gate.  Book early to avoid disappointment.

JCPZ invites all residents of Johannesburg and the surrounding regions to join this uplifting celebration of mothers, family, and togetherness in the heart of nature.
