Release: Immediate

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) has joined the global community in honoring our Senior Citizens this October. We’re offering our Older Persons free access to the Joburg Zoo until 31 October 2021.

The International Day of Older Persons is observed throughout the month of October across the world. The month as been set aside by the United Nations (UN) under this year’s theme, “Stepping into the future: tapping the talents, contributions and participation of older persons in society”.

Families across Mzanzi are encouraged to bring their Senior Citizens for a great outdoor experience, peace of mind and an array of animals at the Zoo.

Undoubtedly, our older persons remain the backbone of our households and society. They continue to instill values and principles in communities. Each of us treasures fond memories taught by our grandmothers and grandpas.

Let’s make this month special for our elders, with sufficient space for picnics and safe social distancing, the zoo is ideal for families in celebration of our heroes.

The general public including children will pay the normal entrance fees of R110 per adult and R65 per child. Free access to the Joburg Zoo will apply to the seniors only until 31 October 2021.

The Johannesburg Zoo continues to comply with all Covid regulations and it remains compulsory for all visitors to wear their masks, practice safe distancing by staying within the safety of your loved ones. Visitors are encouraged to bring along personal sanitizer.

If the weather permits, pack a picnic basket, roll out your blankets and come along to enjoy the Big5.

Ends.
