For months, a 12,200m² piece of land in Eldorado Park, Region G, was a regular casualty of illegal dumping and neglect—an underutilised space that didn't reflect the vibrant spirit of the people living around it. On Tuesday, 23 June 2026, JCPZ, together with MMC for Community Development, Cllr Thapelo Amad, officially pulled back the curtain on a R5-million transformation that has turned an eyesore into an absolute jewel. Welcome to the newly developed Leiklip Street Park!
What the New Facility Offers
JCPZ designed this park as a destination of dreams, ensuring there is truly something for everyone. Whether you are a fitness enthusiast, a parent looking for a safe space for your kids, or someone who just wants to enjoy nature, here is what you will find across the 12,200m² facility:
Sports & Fitness
· A Multi-Sport Court: Fully equipped for tennis, netball, and mini-soccer.
· Outdoor Gym: Four state-of-the-art pieces of outdoor gymnasium equipment to keep the community active and healthy.
For the Little Ones (and the Young at Heart)
· Safety-First Play Area: The entire play section features safety rubberised flooring to keep kids safe while they explore.
· The Fun Zone: Includes a multi-part jungle gym with slides, two swings, two see-saws, and two merry-go-rounds.
Nature & Relaxation
· Greenery Galore: Over 6,000m² of lush Kikuyu lawn perfect for relaxing, alongside 44 newly planted trees that will provide shade for generations to come.
· Rest & Social Spaces: 5,500m² of beautiful paving, 15 concrete benches, and two large concrete picnic sets capable of seating eight people each.
Cleanliness & Safety
· To ensure the park stays pristine and secure, JCPZ installed 10 litter bins and 107 protective bollards around the perimeter.
